There are 4 parts of the court that are important to know, the baseline, the service line, volley and the alleys. The baseline is the line at the very back of the court, it's also where you stand if you are receiving the ball during the other team's serve. The baseline is also where you hit a groundstroke. A ball that hits inside the baseline is always considered a good shot. If a shot goes outside the baseline then it's considered a bad shot and If the ball lands right on top of the line then it's also considered a good shot. Next is the service line. The service line is the line that is in the middle of the court and is typically where you will stand if the other team is serving and you aren't receiving or if your teammate is serving you will always be on the service line. The service line is also where you will be hitting your volley's. A volley is right up against the net hence why a certain tennis move is called a volley. A volley is usually hit out of the air and into the service line. Lastly is the alleys, If you play doubles you'll be using the alleys but in singles you won't use them. The alleys are the narrow stips down each side of the court.
